There is a growing acceptance of veganism all over the world that is leading to a growth of the market. Also, increasing influence of social media that is dedicated to a vegan lifestyle is encouraging more and more people to opt for a plant-based diet. According to Mintel, looking at Germany, about 14% of product innovations in the food- and beverage industry were vegan between 2017 and 2018, while 2012 they were only about 3%.
AKRAS Flavours developed an innovative product concept – the Vegan Fruit Gums. Following the vegan/vegetarian movement, the market offers today gummy candies based on starches with optionally protein fortification from dairy ingredients (e.g. yoghurt,…).Solely vegan options were not yet available. We at AKRAS Flavours developed an innovative option for vegan fruit gums based on natural fruit flavours with fruit juice, pea-protein and yoghurt-flavour.
